I am a grandmother. My granddaughter is adopted by a wonderful family whom God precisely led us to. My daughter and I are blessed by being able to visit with her 3x a year and recieve pictures periodically. My daughter, Emily is a senior at Purdue majoring in Food Science. I am very proud of her for her decision.
Why am I emailing? There is not alot of info on the experiences of the birthfamilies and how they must mourn the loss and adjust to life without the pleasure of birthdays, Christmas, baking cookies, etc. I wanted you to know that open adoption does work for families but that alot of work on both sides needs to happen. Christ needs to be in the center, all children are a gift from God, not a pocession, birthmothers are not abandoning their children, they are choosing parents for them to give them a chance at a normal childhood. We are not going to steal their children, we only want to be part of their lives so that as they grow up, they no without a doubt that they were loved and prayed for throughout their lives.
